September 2024: We welcome our new research assistant, Elena Syed.

July 2024: We welcome our new lab technician, Slávka Vojteková.

June 2024: Our group received a prestigious grant from the NextGenerationEU (09I03-03-V03-00069).

June 2024: Andrej Boroš and Filip Kornhauser have successfully defended their Bachelor’s theses, and we are delighted that they decided to stay in the lab to continue in their Master’s theses.

May 2024: Our group received a Slovak national grant supported by the Slovak Research and Development Agency under contract no APVV-23-0393 and APVV-23-0457 for the duration of four years.

April 2024: Diana Knoblochová has successfully defended her minimal PhD thesis

March 2024: Our group received Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic and Slovak Academy of Sciences (VEGA) ( 2/0103/24)

February 2024: Our high school student intern, Kristina Stohl, recently represented us in the Students’ Professional Activities (Stredoškolská Odborná Činnost – SOČ) competition. By submitting an essay and subsequently defending her scientific research on Drosophila in front of a jury, she made it to regionals! It was this competition that led her to us, but it was the welcoming team that made her stay.

September 2023: We welcome our new graduate student, Sanjay Ramnayrayan Yadav from India. His graduate studies are funded by a prestigious grant from the NextGenerationEU, scholarships for excellent PhD students (R1) – UZ SAS (09I03-03-V02-00014)

September 2022: We welcome our new graduate student, Mgr. Diana Knoblochová.

June 2022: Diana Knoblochová has successfully defended her Master’s thesis.

June 2023: Ruženka has successfully defended her Master’s thesis.

June 2021: Ruženka has successfully defended her Bachelor’s thesis.

June 2020: Diana and Natália have successfully defended their Bachelor theses.

6th-8th November, 2019: Martina has represented young researchers from the Slovak Academy of Sciences as the Young leader at the Science and Technology in Society forum (STS forum) in Kyoto, Japan (https://www.stsforum.org/). We are very grateful to the SAS for this nomination.

1st October, 2019: Work presented by Martina was awarded by the L’ORÉAL-UNESCO For Women in Science fellowship, Slovakia – National Young Talents Programme, 2019. Several print and electronic media wrote about the event and about our work – see links in the section Outreach.

27th September, 2019: Martina was invited to give a talk at the European Researchers’ Night in Bratislava (https://www.nocvyskumnikov.sk/program/prednaska/lab/256.html).

11th-13th September, 2019: We have presented our work at Drobnicov memoriál (http://dm2019.vedaazivot.sk/), meeting of young molecular biologists and biochemists. Study presented by Martina won the first prize, Drobnica’s Award (prize for the best work in biochemistry and molecular biology of a young investigator aged 35 or below).

5th-8th September, 2019: We have presented our work at the 26th European Drosophila Research Conference in Lausanne, Switzerland ( https://www.edrc2019.com/).

30th June-6th July, 2019: We have presented our work at the Insect hormones meeting in Crete, Greece ( http://dub.entu.cas.cz/~kyklop/FIIP/index.html), thanks to the support by APVV-16-0395 funding.

12th-14th June, 2019: We have presented our work at the international workshop Frontiers in Insect Physiology in Czech Budeweis, Czech republic ( http://dub.entu.cas.cz/~kyklop/FIIP/index.html). Martina was one of the invited speakers.

15th May, 2019: We have received a funding – Support of Projects Seal of Excellence from the Slovak Academy of Sciences (PI Martina Gáliková).

6th May, 2019: We have hosted a talk by our collaborator, prof. Heinrich Dircksen from the Stockholm University.
